Research thesis project

The socio-political and economic conditions at the beginning of the 20th century established fashion as a universal social phenomenon, resulting in its spreading into every aspect of human activity, including architecture and clothing. The subject is the garments from the beginning of the 19th century up to the minimalist clothing of the 1970s. The aim of the work is to investigate the evolution of fashion in the context of modern architectural movements, and to identify the proportions of meaning and forms in garments as architectural loans. This research is documented by identifying this connection in tableau vivants (stills) from cinema and theater.
